Ride someone hard
Ride someone hard:Originally, it was a horse back riding term. To "ride hard" meant to push your horse to the limits and ride him as fast and as long as possible. Now, the term as taken on new meanings and can be applied to motorcycles, bicycles, or applied as a sexual innuendo.
E.G.1:I need to ride hard right this very minute because I am full of sexual tension and desire.
E.G.2:He would keep riding her hard all day in the office, until one afternoon she snapped.
Mike:We'relooking at the plans for her house. 保险公司削减了我的赔偿金------>>There'sonly one plumber I want. 麦克又是我唯一看中的水管工------>>Don'texpect to see this guy for a few months. 这几个月就别想见他了------>>I'mgonna be riding him hard. Susan:Well,if anybody can go the distance, he can. I should know.
So yes, it means Edie plans to make the plumber (arh, there's another innuendo!) work hard, as well as have sex with him.A lot of Desperate Housewives dialogue drips with double entendre. It originates from when people would ride horses and do so quickly. Imagine riding a horse fast for several miles and you will know what ride hard means. It now means a variety of things...including rough sex. Ride hard could pertain to riding a motorcycle offroad etc. Now THAT phrase is definitely sexual. If someone looks "rode hard and put up wet", it means they look like either 1) they had a wild, exhausting sexual encounter and/or 2) this happens frequently. It does not have a positive connotation. It implicates that one (usually a woman) is being used sexually by too many people.
