Over the top：to an excessive or exaggerated degree, in particular so as to go beyond reasonable or acceptable limits；too extreme and not suitable, or demanding too much attention , especially in an uncontrolled way(太过分，太夸张了).For example,You can say that someone goes over the top if they do something in a way that is too extreme.中文释义：over 在...之上，the top最高点，连起来是超过了最高点，因此这个固定搭配通常用来表达太过分，太夸张的意思。外国人在社交聊天中经常输入的OTT也就是在表达：你太夸张了！例句：The special effects are a bit over the top but I enjoyed it.（特效有点夸张，但是我喜欢）。Over the top这个习惯用语最初同战争有关。据说在第一次世界大战期间， 人们用over the top来形容士兵们从藏身的战壕里跳出来迎战敌军，不过这样做往往会造成大量伤亡。有的人则认为从安全的战壕里跳出来袭击敌人是过于勇敢，因此over the top含有过分的意思。
