The phrase was used as a final consequence of the actions or the events that have taken place. There were a range of possible outcomes of these actions and the sequence of events.
中文释义：as a result相当于一个连词，一般用于句首，且要用逗号与后面的句子隔开，是因此，所以的意思；as a result为副词用法，意为结果是，后面指事情的结果。例句：He got up very late today. As a result, he missed the first bus.（他今天起晚了，结果没赶上头班车。）
