正如ET 记者在采访中所说的“This is where the magic happens ”。该剧讲诉在同一所房子里的三场婚姻，三个女人的自我探索之旅，她的精彩之处不做多说，想知道就去看剧吧。今天给大家准备了第一集中的地道表达，请开心食用吧。

1.occupy

• VERB 居住，使用（建筑物或某地）
  The people who occupy a building or a place are the people who live or work there.There were over 40 tenants, all occupying one wing of the hospital.
• VERB   使从事；使关注；使花费时间
  

           If something occupies you, it requires your efforts, attention, or time.      

           I had other matters to occupy me, during the day at least...

           至少白天我还有别的事情要

注意这里的翻译：“我每天也没什么事可以做”I'm afraid i don't have much to occupy my days .还可以说成 I have nothing to do.但显然没有文中说的更符合贝丝安上流阶层女性的无奈。

2.work your fingers to the bone

work your fingers to the bone  拼命干活 to work very hard

on the books 登记备用；

在这里表示准备的意思，不过词典中并无迹可寻。

3.SWEAR

swear   

[no passive]   郑重承诺；发誓要；表示决心要

to make a serious promise to do sth

同义词： vow

[VN]   He swore revenge on the man who had killed his father.

他发誓要向那个杀死他父亲的人报仇

此外，swear还可以表说脏话，咒骂

[V]   ~ (at sb/sth)

咒骂；诅咒；说脏话
to use rude or offensive language, usually because you are angry   

She fell over and swore loudly.

她摔倒了，大骂了一声。

4.LIVID

1、暴怒的；狂怒的 extremely angry同义词： furious

2、乌青色的；青灰色的 dark bluish-grey in colour

这里积累一下当面交谈的表达方式：

一开始就是3个丈夫对各自妻子的独白。这段台词是Simone的第三任丈夫Karl对她的第一次印象描述。

“the entrance she made”表达了他印象深刻。你要感叹一个人的行为让你惊呆了（无论是好的方面还是坏的方面），可以用类似的表达：

Oh, the things she did.
Geez, the way he cried.

drip本义是“滴下”，drip in diamonds字面意思则是“滴着钻石”，即引申为礼服都挂满了钻石。
